Film Series presents ORANGES AND SUNSHINE

December 9, 2011 filed under Cinéfest Sudbury Film Series

Cinéfest Sudbury Film Series is set to return in 2012 and will kick off the New Year with a screening of Oranges and Sunshine on January 26th at SilverCity Sudbury at 7pm.

From the Oscar® winning producers of The King's Speech and starring Emily Watson, David Wenham and Hugo Weaving, Oranges and Sunshine tells the story of Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham, who uncovered one of the most significant social scandels in recent times: the organized deportation of children in care from the United Kingdom to Australia.

A first feature by UK director Jim Loach (son of acclaimed director Ken Loach), Oranges and Sunshine is a heart wrenching drama based on one woman’s real-life crusade to help displaced adults - forcefully separated from their families as children - discover their true identities. An official selection at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, this poignant work of storytelling has received worldwide critical acclaim.

Cinéfest Sudbury Film Series offers our dedicated Festival-goers an opportunity to see the very best in Canadian and international cinema each month and Festival members are offered a special discounted admission price. Click here for information on how to become a Cinéfest Sudbury Member.
